PUBLIC WORKS LANDFILL ATTENDANT

The requirements for this position include:

  • The service is to be provided in a safe, timely, efficient and environmentally safe manner.
  • The Landfill Attendant shall use pleasant manner and sound judgment when dealing with the public.
  • The position will consist of up to 34 hours per week working various hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ensuring the Landfills are operates in accordance with the Certificate of Approval.

  • Identify waste entering the landfill and screening for prohibited waste.
  • Direct and ensure the waste is separated and deposited to the appropriate area.
  • Maintain order and cleanliness of grounds and buildings including, preventing blow litter wherever possible.
  • Municipal statistic records to be completed daily and submitted weekly to the Municipal Office on forms supplied by the Municipality.
  • Determine if a user is a resident or not.Ensure non-residents have dump card.
  • Responsible for determining appropriate tipping fees in accordance with the Municipality’s User Fee By-law; the Attendant must provide receipt; Attendant must maintain receipt book and account to Public Works for all cash receipts.Must also forward paperwork to the Municipal Office weekly for invoicing.Receipt book will be supplied by the Municipality
  • The Attendant must adhere to all safety standards under the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • The Attendant must supply safety toe boots.
  •  Use authority to disallow scavenging (no salvage rights, the Municipality retains ALL salvage rights).
  •  Report discrepancies or problems immediately to 705 569-3272

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday

8:00 am to 12:00 pm

Sunday - summer hours

(May long weekend to Labour Day long weekend)

10:00 am to 2:00 pm

Sunday – winter hours

8:00 am to 12:00 pm

Sisk Landfill Hours

Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday

1:00 pm to 4:30 pm

Sunday - summer hours

(May long weekend to Labour Day long weekend)

3:00 pm to 6:30 pm

Sunday – winter hours

1:00 pm to 4:30 pm
