Mayor Hunter

It is said that if you drink the water from Lake Temagami that you will be sure to return. It is true that people return over and over to Temagami, but the water legend is not the only reason. The area is world-renowned for its superb wilderness experience and people come from near and far to visit the lodges, youth camps, outposts, parks and extensive canoe routes. There are many activities for residents and visitors to enjoy in Temagami, including fishing, hunting, hiking, cross-country skiing, RVing, ATVing, snowmobiling and, of course, cottaging.

For our Visitors:
To those who have been here before, I invite you to return, to renew the friendships you found here and to make new ones, and to once again rejuvenate your soul surrounded by nature. To those who have not previously visited Temagami, I invite you to come and experience that which brings people back here time and time again. Whatever brings you to Temagami, while you are here I encourage you to visit our tourist attractions, including the historic Fire Tower and Train Station and to visit our local shops.

For our Residents:
Whether year-round or seasonal, you are an important and valued part of our municipality and I hope that you will take every opportunity to participate fully in our community, including attending our municipal events. Thank you to the many residents who contribute greatly to our quality of life through your volunteer efforts; we are proud of and greatly appreciate you. I also invite those not currently volunteering, to please consider it if you are able, whether it be in helping to plan and run municipal events, participating on an advisory committee that provides input into municipal policy making, or as a member of one of our service clubs. By all working together, we can help to ensure that Temagami is as a great place to live as it is to vacation.
